Biography
Tim is a Margaret Thatcher Scholar reading for a DPhil in Engineering Science. Tim originally studied at the University of Bristol where he gained a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2023. Additionally, for his work during his undergraduate studies, he was awarded the 2023 Bechtel Industrial Individual Prize. Whilst at Bristol he worked on a range of projects, both as part of research internships and during his degree programme, specialising in fluid dynamics. These covered simulating fusion reactor cooling pipes for the UKAEA, assessing the effectiveness of 3D printing to produces microfluid crystallisation trays and designing analogue experiments to evaluate surface displacement in volcanic regions.
This previous research has given him a broad set of skills both in computational fluids and experimental techniques in cross disciplinary settings. He hopes to use these skills within his research at the University of Oxford which will focus on offshore tidal and wind turbines.
