Biography
Tobias Harritz graduated from Aarhus University in Denmark with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Following this, he completed a master’s degree in Neuroscience and Neuroimaging at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China. For his master’s thesis, his project examined the use of advanced diffusion MRI methods as potential biomarkers of traumatic brain injury. Similarly, his DPhil project focuses on exploring neuroimaging markers of sports-related concussion, supervised by Prof. Constantin Coussios and Prof. Peter Jezzard. Specifically, they will be imaging the brains of rugby players before and after receiving a concussion using MRI, accompanied by various other measures such as blood, saliva and wearable mouthguard data. This multimodal approach may enable us to better understand the pathophysiology of concussion, as well as improve the assessment and diagnosis of sports-related concussion.
Research Interests
My current interest is in concussions, and how we can use neuroimaging and other minimally invasive tools to improve our understanding of concussions, improve diagnosis and better predict long-term outcome.
