Dr

Zihan Song BEng PhD

Postdoctoral Researcher

Biography

Dr Zihan Song is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford's Department of Engineering Science, working with Prof. Paul Shearing. His research area is electrochemistry and materials science of energy storage. His work is currently focused on high-energy anode materials and multiscale characterisations (e.g. X-ray imaging techniques) for solid-state batteries.

Zihan completed his BEng degree at Tianjin University, majoring in chemical engineering in 2015. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics) in 2020, specialising in anode materials and interfaces of advanced lithium-ion batteries. From 2021 to 2023, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces under the supervision of Prof. Markus Antonietti, where he focused on carbon nitride and carbonaceous materials for rechargeable batteries.
