About the role
The role requires wide-ranging project management for a number of both new and existing projects and funding streams. This includes a major five-year EPSRC Programme Grant that started in April 2025. The Research Programme Manager role will be based at the Oxford Thermofuids Institute in Osney and is fixed term for up to 3 years in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension.
You will need the skills to navigate governance issues such as data protection and ethics, advise the team on intellectual property management, copyright, and conflicts of interest, and understand research funding arrangements. You will also be required to work independently and be proactive. You will also oversee project finances and liaise with various teams within the department and wider university including the Communications, Events and Marketing Team in order to organise outreach activities related to the Programme Grant as well as large annual meetings with external guests where the research outcomes will be presented and critically evaluated.
About You
You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience. You should have proven financial aptitude with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to produce clear and concise financial/research reports. Experience of administration or project management in a research environment, public sector environment or other large complex organisation is essential, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills. Research experience and a strong understanding of how research teams operate, including supporting grant writing and a proven ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external partners is an advantage.
