Biography
Dr Liam Smith is a postdoctoral researcher within the Impact and Shock Mechanics Laboratory based at Begbroke Science Park. Having finished his DPhil at Oxford in 2023 he now conducts research on the dynamic strength of a variety of metallic and ceramic materials.
Current Projects
- Researching the dynamic response of ceramic and geological materials with a view to parameterising cutting edge numerical predictive capabilities.
- Developing a novel orthotropic constitutive model to predict the mechanical response of laser powder bed additively manufactured metallic components to dynamic loading events.
