Matilde Maardalen, DPhil Student

Matilde Maardalen

DPhil Student

Biography

Matilde graduated from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2020 with an MSc in Nanotechnology, specialising in device-mediated targeted drug delivery. Her masters thesis was under supervision of Prof. Catharina de Lange Davies, investigating if the drug delivery method "Acoustic Cluster Therapy" induced an immune response in tumours.

Receiving the Aker Scholarship, Matilde joined BUBBL as a DPhil student in October 2020, under the supervision of Prof. Constantin Coussios and Prof. Robert Carlisle, where she is investigating ultrasound and cavitation-aided immunomodulation in tumours.

Current Projects

Ultrasound-Enhanced Immunotherapy in Solid Tumours:

The aim of the project is to decipher and optimise the direct impact of cavitation alone, and the imapct of cavitation in combination with protein-based therapeutics, on tumour treatment and the insitgation of anti-tumour immunity.
