Biography
Shuwei Xing is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME) at University of Oxford, working under the supervision of Professor Alison Noble since October 2025. He completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the Robarts Research Institute, Western University (Canada), under the joint supervision of Professors Terry Peters and Aaron Fenster. Prior to that, he graduated from Tsinghua University (Beijing, China), where he focused on medical robotics and augmented reality.
During his PhD, Shuwei’s research focused on developing clinically integrated technologies to advance ultrasound-guided interventions, particularly through the combined use of AI and robotics. He developed a 3D ultrasound guidance system for liver cancer therapy (3DLIVUS) and a fluoroscopy guidance system with seamless magnetic tracking integration (FLUX-NAV). Building on his experience in ultrasound guidance and system deployment, Shuwei is now contributing to the Turing Fellowship Human–AI Collaboration project, exploring the multimodality-driven AI instructor for ultrasound guidance.
