Department Teaching Awards 2025

Thirteen academics receive Departmental Teaching Awards for excellence in teaching based on nominations from students and faculty

Professors Kostas Kostas Margellos (for excellent lectures and lab demonstrating) Ekaterina Shamonina (for excellent lectures, tutorials, and pastoral support) and John Huber received Gold Teaching Awards 2025

The annual Departmental Teaching Awards were presented at the Engineering Science Faculty Away Day in September. Awards were decided by a committee with representation from both Faculty and the student body. The committee selected the awards based upon nominations received from undergraduate students and subject panels. Awards were made in three categories: Gold, Silver and Bronze.  

The following awards were presented:

Gold

Kostas Margellos (for excellent lectures and lab demonstrating)

Ekaterina Shamonina (for excellent lectures, tutorials, and pastoral support)

John Huber (for being an excellent Chair of Examiners and for excellent tutorials/classes)

Silver

Paul Goulart (for excellent lectures)

Ryan Walker (for being an excellent Formula Student Advisor)

Wes Armour  (for excellent lectures and project supervision)

Steve Elston (for his excellent contributions to the running and teaching of the 1st Year Electrical DBT)

Bronze

Tim Denison (for high quality lectures and classes)

Xiaowen Dong (for high quality lectures/tutorials/project supervision)

Charles Monroe (for high quality lectures and tutorials)

Wouter de Vos Mostert (for high quality tutorials)

Jack Umenberger (for high quality lectures and lab demonstrating)

Amy Zavatsky (for high quality tutorials and pastoral care)
