"Receiving this award is a tremendous honour but it is also an opportunity to do more", says Selena. "Receiving this award is a tremendous honour but it is also an opportunity to do more and contribute to a prosperous and sustainable future".

The award ceremony for Italian talents Under 30 who are committed to changing the world was held last July 14th in Milan, at the Principe di Savoia Hotel.

Selena is now a Strategy Consultant (Healthcare) at Siemens Advanta Consulting. As a DPhil student in the Department of Engineering Science, she designed mathematical models to better understand the relationship between metabolism and blood flow in the brain, as well as being the student representative of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and an active member of Women in Engineering. During her time at Oxford, Selena was also dedicated to science communication and gender equality, two passions that she brought to life by giving public talks in the UK Parliament, global summits and public schools.

"We need to act together, promoting talent and innovation regardless of gender, race or any other limitations in mindset."

"Popularising science and technology is an imperative in today's world, given the global environmental threats and healthcare challenges that stand before us”, she says. “We need to act swiftly and to do that, we need to act together, promoting talent and innovation regardless of gender, race or any other limitations in mindset."
